Beware of previously owned baby bedding because it may not be as safe. The dyes used in the making of older versions of crib sets may no longer be allowed by baby safety experts, and the chemicals used in fire retardant crib bedding may not be safe either.
In most cases used baby bedding will come back to life good as new when washed but this might not be true with some kinds of crib bedding. Baby’s mattress may look new but if it has been used for any length of time, it probably has lost its firmness, which is very important for your baby’s peaceful sleep. A used mattress will harbor spores and dust particles that could affect your infant breathing and there might be unseen stains from previous use.
