Retail Design – Placing Big Products On The Left Is Vital
Shelving and how products are placed on shelving is an important consideration of retail design. You should place your best selling items and higher cost items at eye level, which is a hot spot.
For some of the products, you will receive special incentives from the product companies when you placed their products in certain shelves. When there are different sizes of the same product, they should be lined up biggest to smallest left to right. The reasoning behind this is that people read left to right and look naturally to their left first.
By putting your larger items on the left you are more possible to have patrons grab the bigger size, which makes you more sales. Empty space should be minimized because it uses up precious space in your store and does not look good.
The space between your shelves should be just big enough to comfortably allow people to remove the products. If there is too much space, the visual effect of the products on the shelf is watered down. It is also important to have plenty of stock on the shelf to create a visual impact.
